01 · Who you’d be talking to
Dr. Angela Young

I’m Angela.

I was born and raised in Detroit, and I’ve spent more than 37 years in nursing, in settings from intensive care to administrative medicine. Today I support service members and veterans navigating trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder. I founded my practice to provide specialized support for people facing trauma-related conditions and everyday emotional challenges.

I’m also a survivor of sexual assault, so I approach this work with both professional expertise and personal understanding: care informed by lived experience and evidence-based practice.

How I work

Warm, collaborative and down-to-earth. I emphasize practical application, helping you not only understand therapeutic ideas but use them in your day-to-day life. I believe lasting change comes from building skills you can carry into real-world situations, and I work in partnership with each person to create care that feels relevant and sustainable. I offer both individual therapy and medication management.

I hope to offer a steady, compassionate presence as you move toward greater clarity, stability and well-being. I’m accepting new patients.

What’s a session like?

My care is person-centered: it’s built around your goals and preferences, and we make decisions together.

What will it cost?

Without insurance, the initial session is $175 and standard visits are $100. A sliding scale is available if you may be eligible.

Things people worry about

Will I have to talk about what happened?

You share at your own pace. I respect all states of mind and meet you exactly where you are, in a nonjudgmental space.

Will you put me on medication?

I offer both medication management and individual therapy. Because my care is built on shared decision-making, whether medication is part of your care is something we decide together.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Your health information is protected by federal privacy law (HIPAA). You’re welcome to ask me about it during your free consultation.

What if I’m not “bad enough”?

You don’t need to be in crisis to reach out. Alongside trauma, I help with everyday emotional challenges: stress, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, and patterns that feel difficult to break.

I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help.

My approach is practical. I help you not only understand therapeutic ideas but use them in your day-to-day life, building skills you can carry into real-world situations. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
